Piaggio Aerospace Secures First Order for Upgraded P.180 Avanti NX
An undisclosed European aviation operator has finalized a contract to acquire two units of the newly enhanced model, which was introduced during the Aero Friedrichshafen 2026 exhibition held in Germany.
"˜The aircraft will feature specialized stretcher modules, allowing it to be configured for air ambulance and medical evacuation missions."
This initial sale represents an important achievement for Piaggio Aerospace, which has been working to rebuild its presence and influence within the international aerospace industry.
Chief Executive Officer Giovanni Tomassini noted that the company’s reappearance at Aero Friedrichshafen after an extended absence, along with this agreement, demonstrates its successful return to the aviation sector with the backing of Baykar.
The transaction also aligned with the 40-year anniversary of the first flight of the original P.180 aircraft model.
The newly developed Avanti NX improves upon the signature aerodynamic structure of its predecessor, delivering jet-like performance while maintaining the fuel-saving efficiency and reduced emissions characteristic of a turboprop design.
